Association between clinical and histopathological oral lesion diagnoses among Iraqi patients

Introduction: A potentially malignant oral lesion (PMOL) refers to a morphologically altered tissue that has higher likelihood of developing cancer compared its apparently normal counterpart. Among PMOLs, leukoplakia is the most common found in mucosa. The aim study evaluate clinical characteristics lesions by comparing with histopathological diagnosis. Method: included descriptive analysis data from 75 patients seen between May 2022 and 2023 at maxillofacial surgery clinic AL-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, Ghazi AL-Hariri Hospital for specialized Surgery. Information about patient's age, lesion's location duration, clinician's diagnosis, ultimate histological diagnosis course therapy. Each medical history was taken after thorough examination their mouth. Results: 81.8% surgeon-diagnosed are also hitopathologist-diagnosed. hitopathologist confirms 97.8% benign lesions. Conclusion: Clinical evaluation were significantly correlated, indicating Iraqi surgeons well-trained mouth highly correlated pathological
